Economic Rental Rates
We have a fair and easy-to-understand tariff with no
surcharges for school holidays.
It's simply a
case of first-come, first served.
Summer Season
From 1st May to 31st October, the basic rental for
up to 7 people is
just £50 per night with a minimum occupancy of
three nights.
During these months the central heating
system is normally switched off and so no
charge is made for it.
Gas heaters and a
log-burning stove are provided free of charge
to provide comfort heating, if required.
Winter Season
From 1st November to 30th April, the basic rental for up to 7 people is
just £35 per night with a minimum occupancy of
three nights.
During these months the central heating
system is normally switched on and a charge of
£20 per day is made for it.
This reflects the typical cost of the diesel
oil consumed which, in Italy, is highly taxed
at a level similar to motor vehicle fuel.
All Year
There is a preparation and servicing charge of £50 per
person, with a minimum of two persons.
This charge applies only
once in any booked period no matter how
long you decide to stay.
Our only proviso is that you are prepared to change your own
bedding during stays of over a week. Clean
bedding is provided.
A non-refundable 10% deposit is required at the time of booking.
The balance is due eight weeks before first date of occupancy.
Frequently Asked
Questions
Q. Why are your rental rates so reasonable when compared
to other properties on offer in Tuscany?
A. For four main reasons:
Firstly, Casa Marginetta is primarily our home in Italy.
We go there frequently ourselves. We only
accept rentals to assist with the running
costs, not for profit. We do not use a letting
agent.
Secondly, we are enthusiastic about Tuscany and want
others to be able to share in the experience at
an affordable price.
Thirdly, our location is a great place to stay all-year
round, and we don't hike the price during school
holidays. Our own children have entered
adulthood now, but we are still passionate
about making family holidays affordable without
being forced to take children out of school in term
time!
Fourthly, we have made the decision not to offer a
swimming pool. These are expensive to provide
and even more expensive to maintain. Instead of
immersing yourself in chlorine and chemicals, we think
that you might prefer swimming in the sea, in
natural thermal spa waters at the pool
in Bagni di Lucca or may even care to take a
refreshing dip in the Serchio river nearby!
All of this means that we are able to substantially
reduce the cost of your rental and thereby
offer you excellent value for money!
However, we do urge you to please book popular
dates as early as you can to avoid
disappointment.
Q. On what day does your rental week start and
finish?
A. Whatever suits you best! Unlike most other
rentals, with us you can choose to start and finish your
stay on any day you like! This gives you maximum flexibility and
lets you find the best
possible deal on flights from the airport of
your choice. You can also stay as long as
you like from 3 nights upwards. Whether you
fancy a short break or a lengthy stay, we're
happy to welcome you anytime!
Q. Which are the best airports for Casa
Marginetta?
A.
PISA is the nearest airport, about an hour from Casa Marginetta via the
motorway. Or instead you could visit the famous
leaning tower which is
only
a few minutes
from the airport. Conveniently, it's also right
next to the SS12, the direct route to Casa Marginetta through
Pisa!
FLORENCE
airport is almost as near, just over an hour away from Casa Marginetta via the
motorway. Flights from London Gatwick to this
airport are operated by
Meridiana.
Of course, Florence itself is well worth a
visit!
BOLOGNA
is a good third choice,
GENOA
is a good fourth and PARMA
is a good fifth as rates are sometimes lower than Pisa.
By motorway, it's door-to-door
in about two hours from any of them.
If you don't mind a slightly longer trip from
Genoa or Parma, a drive or train journey through the
scenic Serchio valley via Aulla and Castelnuovo di
Garfagnana can be a wonderful way to start the holiday!
Alternatively, you may prefer to stop off instead at one of the many
beautiful
seaside resorts between Genoa and Viareggio
including Portofino
and the Cinque
Terre.
Just turn off the motorway or hop off the
train!
As part of a multi-centre holiday you could fly into
VENICE
(Bretella
or Treviso) or
ROME
(Fiumicino
or Ciampino) as some of
our previous guests have chosen to do. All of these airports are
under four hours drive by motorway from Casa
Marginetta.
Then again, you could always take the train
to Pisa and pick up a hire car there as you
certainly won't need one in Venice or Rome.
Another option is to fly to RIMINI
and maybe
stay overnight in the strikingly beautiful
hilltop republic of San Marino - Europe's third smallest
independent state - before driving across Italy on the
fabulously scenic
S67 Tosco-Emiliano route.
It's a fact, Casa Marginetta is so well located for
exploring Italy that the only limit to your
options is your imagination!
