Casa Marginetta  The symbol of Italy!

What our guests think ...

8. Chris and George (September 2005)

Never before have we been anywhere where the owners have been so thoughtful.

The information provided by them certainly made for a stressless holiday - many, many thanks!

The village is so peaceful and the surrounding countryside so beautiful.

Our day in Lucca was wonderful - we stayed there so long that it was dark when we got back and found only one space left for parking!

Our trip to Pisa on the train was trouble-free. It cost €13.20 return for 2 adults. As soon as you arrive buy your tickets for the leaning tower - we had to wait 2½ hours before we could go in - but it was worth the wait.

Barga is quaint, such an interesting town. Narrow little streets and good views - such a pity though that we had chosen a grey day to visit.

We walked to Fiano, which on a hot day was pleasant as most of the route was in dappled shade.

We went to Viareggio but found that at this time of year it was very quiet. We counted about 30 other people walking on the water's edge. Nearly all the bars on the seafront were closed.

We have had a really good break and feel quite rested. Enjoy your holiday too.

Arrividerci!

Chris

9. Eileen and Philip (September 2005)

Enjoyed our stay here although the weather could have been kinder, as we only had two sunny days out of seven.

Fortunately, on one of those days we chose to go to Lucca, a town we have been promising ourselves to visit during our last three trips to Italy!

It was well worth the wait, very interesting indeed.

Lunched at Barga which is well worth a visit and do make the effort to climb up to the Duomo to see the fabulous panoramic views!

The drive over the hill to Fiano is also worth making.

We visited the church in Fondagno that you can see down the valley from every window - and enjoyed the view back to Casa Marginetta and Convalle just as much!

Facilities in the house were good - especially the DVD collection which proved invaluable when the weather was poorer.

Weather was fantastic - woke every morning with the sun on my face!

Went swimming with the children at Forte dei Marmi and Pisa - even in mid October the sea was still warm and delightful.

We loved Pisa and Lucca and found all the information very helpful.

Drove over the mountains to Modena which was particularly beautiful as the leaves were turning.

Drove down to Siena through Chianti and also went to Milan - the latter being quite a long drive.

All in all we found the house a happy, organised place to stay, and the children loved all the games, DVDs and the kittens they found in the village to play with!

Back at Casa Marginetta for the second time.

Happy New Year Steve and Trudi!

Skiing in Abetone was fantastic - great snow, great mountains - some challenging skiing!

A warning to anyone going up there who is inexperienced with snow chains - practice first and get some marigolds - it's a mucky business!!

I think it must be rare that they're needed though, as even most of the Italians seemed a bit foxed by them!

The 19 course - yes 19 COURSE - New Years' Eve Dinner at 'La Fonte' was fantastic - it was an excellent night!

Thank you to the men who took us up the hill on the last night - it was all good fun - honest!

Vikki
